    On March 27, 2013 at the Gannett Company corporate offices in McLean, VA the Washington Metro Area Corporate Counsel Association (“WMACCA”) held a Career Development Forum: Job Search Symposium for its members. Martha Ann Sisson and Nancy Palermo attended and hosted roundtable discussions on “How to get ahead: knowing when and if another job is right for you”. They examined the following topics with in-house counsel and shared suggestions for evaluating positions: What is your desired role within an organization? If you’re not in it, what can you do to position yourself to get there? Do you have the necessary experience (i.e. management of other attorneys, affiliation within a certain industry, etc.) to position you for the next step? When is a “lateral move” not a lateral move?     (December 12, 2012, Washington, DC) – Garrison & Sisson, Inc., (G&S), earned the top spot as “Best Legal Recruiter,” in the Best of Legal Times Reader Rankings of 2012.

    This is the second consecutive year G&S has reached the pinnacle of the publication’s prestigious legal recruiter rankings. The firm took the title of “Best Legal Recruiter” in the nation’s capital in Legal Times’ inaugural competition last year.

  • G&S adds to Partner Division

    September 12, 2012, Washington, DC) – Garrison & Sisson, Inc., Washington, DC’s premiere attorney search firm, today announced the addition of Christopher C.S. Manning as a recruiter in its Partner Division.

    “Chris is an outstanding addition to our firm,” said Nancy Palermo, Garrison & Sisson’s Managing Partner and co-head of its In-House Division. “He has a wealth of experience and expertise as a practicing attorney, including knowledge of how to align the talent needs of a law firm with the interests, skills sets, and personal characteristics of experienced lawyers. As a highly respected attorney and former law firm recruiter, Chris will be a great asset to our Partner Division.”

    Prior to joining Garrison & Sisson, Chris practiced law for fifteen years – first as an associate with two Am Law 100 firms, Bryan Cave LLP and Husch Blackwell LLP, and then as a partner in a boutique firm he co-founded, Manning & Sossamon PLLC. While at Bryan Cave LLP, Chris also served for two years as the firm’s DC office Recruitment Director, assisting the firm with recruiting both partners and associates.

    Mr. Manning’s past practice experience includes representing prominent clients in a variety of sophisticated civil litigation matters, including: state and federal business litigation; international telecommunications matters; pharmaceutical, commercial and residential real estate litigation; and consumer fraud actions. Of note, he successfully defended the Chung family and Custom Cleaners in the Pearson v. Chung $54 million dry cleaning lawsuit which also garnered considerable media attention.

    A 1997 graduate of Washington & Lee University School of Law, Mr. Manning is often a featured speaker on newsworthy legal issues. Mr. Manning’s community activities include service on the Board of Governors and as Treasurer of The University Club of Washington, DC; on the Advisory Board and as Treasurer of The Salvation Army National Capital Area Command; and on the Board of Directors and as Secretary and co-founder of the Foggy Bottom-West End Business Association.
