Justine Donahue, Sadie Madole, Matt Schwartz and Barbara Steele attended the annual NALP Conference in Seattle, Washington in early April. Our recruiters had a wonderful time networking with their law firm recruiting coordinator clients and attending informative sessions covering topics including: recruiting for niche practice areas (such as tax, patent, healthcare and FDA, etc.); building strategic alliances among search firms, recruiting coordinators and hiring partners; and lateral partner due diligence and best practices. Garrison & Sisson held three Tory Burch handbag giveaways that drew tremendous crowds.

“Cracking the DC Legal Market” — Matt Schwartz and Sadie Madole advised University of Pennsylvania Law School students about the DC legal market, discussing which practice areas are currently in demand, and how to approach on-campus interviews (OCI) for those students who wish to work in Washington, DC. Their presentation also discussed strategies for researching law firms for OCI, descriptions of various practice areas, and credentials and competitiveness in the DC legal market. This year Matt and Sadie were pleased to have two law students join them on the panel. These students attended G&S’ presentation in 2013 and shared their success stories on pursuing summer associate positions in DC for the summer of 2014 with their peers.

Dan Binstock and Matt Schwartz presented at Georgetown University Law Center this past March before approximately 75 first year law students. The talk was a general overview of the Washington, DC law firm market and covered practice areas, current trends, and job search strategies for law students.
